After a client establishes an eCommerce platform (webstore), and before they contact Paladin to start supporting/billing for the eCommerce platform, they need to prepare to sync their inventory data to their webstore.

There are three methods to perform this (Note: There are methods exclusively available to Volusion, which is documented in the Volusion eCommerce integration KBA and not included in this article).

Discuss the methods with the client and decide which is best, then work with the client to complete the task.

Note: For Method 1, the Ext Sync checkbox must be manually selected in Paladin in the Inventory module > General tab > top right on the Item Information pane. Method 2 and 3 automatically set the Ext Sync checkbox.

Note: The Ext Sync Checkbox is grayed out until either 1) something is selected in Paladin Configuration’s ExternalSync tab, or 2) Mobile API is turned on in Paladin Configuration’s Remote Access tab. Only Paladin Support can perform this; therefore, clients need to request this.

The three methods are detailed in the following sections:

Method 1: Select external sync one-by-one

Note: Mention to the client that this method can be very time consuming.

For every item that will be added to the webstore, perform the following:

  1. In Paladin, in the Inventory module, on the Inventory tab, enter a part number in the Part # box.
  2. Press Enter.
  3. Select the General tab.
  4. On the top right of the Item Information pane, check Ext Sync.
  5. Click F12 Save. After 24 hours, the item will be added and viewable on the webstore.

Method 2: Bulk Ext Sync of Inventory items

Method 3: Contact Paladin to perform external sync in a batch

Inform the client that the cost to do this is $150 an hour with a minimum $150.

  1. Provide Paladin Support with a list of part numbers to check the Ext Sync box for. Or, provide a rule Paladin can apply, for example, All items in Department X.
  2. Paladin will run a script to automatically select the Ext Sync checkbox for these items.
  3. Paladin will inform the client when the update is complete.

The client can then go to their webstore and make any adjustments. Note: Allow 24 hours to elapse for the items to sync to the webstore.
