Note: Paladin recommends that the negative on-hold feature be used cautiously.

You can put an item on hold that has a zero or negative stock-on-hand (SOH) value. While this feature may be useful in certain situations, putting a negative quantity of an item on-hold increases your SOH and can make an item appear in stock when you don’t have it.

For example, if you put an item quantity of -2 on hold, your inventory count increases by 2. In most cases, you will not have these additional items in your store to sell, and this can cause problems.

To enable on-hold inventory:

  1. In Paladin, from the main menu, select File > Setup.
  2. Select the Invoice (Store) tab.
  3. In the Invoice pane, check Enable Inventory On Hold.
  4. Click Save, then click Close.

Important: If this option is currently turned off, and you have quotes that you saved using the On Hold store transaction category, the existing quotes will be moved to the Quote store transaction category when you enable on-hold inventory.

The On Hold and Quote categories are options you can choose when you click F6 Store Transaction in Paladin’s Invoice/Quote module to save a quote.
