Inventory loss due to shoplifting or employee theft (Retail shrinkage) costs the industry about $50 billion annually. Businesses can guard against loss at the cash register with Paladin and its integration with Watcher Total Protection.

Paladin integrates with Watcher Total Protection to provide real-time transaction data that is overlaid onto the surveillance video of your checkout counter. When your cashier processes a sale or performs another checkout procedure, Paladin sends real-time invoice/checkout data to Watcher Total Protection. This data is overlaid onto the surveillance video. Later, you can easily search the video recording for specific invoice data or cashier event, such as an invoice amount, item sold, or a cashier opening the cash drawer without a sale.

How to set up Watcher Total Protection

Note: To set up Watcher Total Protection, activate Watcher Total Protection, then link each terminal to specific cameras via the IP Address and Port Number assignments.

To set up Watcher Total Protection:

  1. In Paladin, from the main menu, select File > Setup.
  2. Select the Company tab.
  3. In the Video Surveillance pane, check Enable Watcher Total Protection

Note: If you are setting up a new customer, do not select Batch Watcher Transmissions. This setting is only recommended for customers that are seeing fragmented parts of transaction details in their surveillance video. For more information, refer to the Batch Watcher Transmissions section of this article.

  1. Click Save.
  2. Select the Network tab.
  3. In the Video Surveillance pane, enter a Watcher IP Address for each terminal that is under a camera.

Note: The Watcher IP Address is configurable for all Paladin terminals. Multiple servers for the Watcher Total Protection system may be in use at a given location; therefore, confirm the IP Address for each Watcher server and apply them to the appropriate terminal. In most installations, the IP Address will be the same.

  1. Enter a Watcher Port Number for each terminal that is under a camera.

Note: Because it is associated with a specific camera at checkout, the Watcher Port Number must be different for each terminal. Watcher will assign a port number to each camera. You will need to determine which port number is assigned to each camera. Watcher usually sets the first port number to 3500. All others follow with 3501, 3502, 3503, etc. It is important to assign the proper port number and corresponding camera to the Paladin terminal that appears in the display.
