To set 2-Step verification in Gmail:

In Google Gmail:

  1. Sign into your Gmail account.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner of your browser, click the round icon that shows the first letter of your name. Note: This may be a picture if you have added one to your Gmail account.
  3. Select Manage your Google Account.
  4. In the left-hand corner of your screen, select Security.
  5. In the Security window, under Signing in to Google, click 2-Step Verification.
  6. In the 2-Step Verification window, click Get Started.
  7. You may be asked to sign in again.
  8. In the 2-Step Verification window, add a phone number to use for getting codes. Select either Text Message or Phone call.
  9. Click Next.
  10. You will receive a code to your phone. Enter the code and click Next.
  11. In the 2-Step Verification window, you will see your code worked. Click Turn On.
  12. On the top of the page, click the arrow next to 2-Step Verification.
  13. On the top of the page, in the Search Google Account, enter App passwords.
  14. You may be asked to sign in again.
  15. In the App passwords window, click Select app and select Other (Custom Name).
  16. Under Select the app and device you want to generate the app password for, enter Paladin and click Generate.
  17. In the Generated app password window, write down or copy the app password for your device.

In Paladin:

  1. From the main menu, select File > Setup.
  2. Select the Forms tab.
  3. In the Email Options pane, enter or paste the app password from Gmail into the SMTP Server Password box.
  4. In the Send Test Email To -> box, enter an email address you want to send a test to.
  5. An Email Sent notification should appear. If an Email Sent notification does not appear, it most likely means that the password entered into Paladin was not exactly the same as the app password from Gmail. Carefully enter the Gmail app password again into the SMTP Server Password field, then try to send a test email again. If it still does not give you an Email Sent message, contact Paladin Support for assistance.
  6. Click Save, then click Close.
