Ace Corporate is transitioning all stores to a Closed Loop Gift Card program starting August 8, 2019. We fully support the new program and are pushing a new version of Paladin to your store(s). The new version contains these important changes that are described in more detail below:
- A small (but very important) extra step for processing all credit card payments
- A new process for selling gift cards
- A new process for redeeming gift cards
- A way to reload gift cards
A small (but important) extra step for processing credit card payments
Note: This process change is for all credit card transactions, not just transactions associated with gift cards, and applies to all stores that use encrypted credit card devices.
In the Invoice/Quote module, when the cashier clicks Credit Card or press F3 to process a credit card payment , the Credit Card Processing window appears.
Prior to this Paladin update, if the credit card was not on file, the credit card device would automatically prompt the customer for payment. Now, because of changes that were made to support the new gift card program, the cashier must press Next >> to start the payment process on the credit card device.
A new process for selling gift cards
After you process payment for a gift card, a Gift Card Processing window appears, and you must enter the gift card number manually to activate it. Previously, the gift card was swiped.
For step-by-step details, see How to sell an Ace gift card.
A new process for redeeming gift cards
Like the new gift card sale process, you must also manually enter a gift card number to redeem an Ace gift card. As with previous gift cards, to add the new gift card as payment, click Credit Card or press F3 to open the Credit Card Processing window. However, instead of swiping the gift card, you will click Ace Gift (a new button) or press F3, and then enter the gift card number in the Gift Card Processing window.
For step-by-step details, see How to redeem an Ace gift card
A way to reload Ace gift cards
The new Ace gift cards can be reloaded using a special gift card reload SKU at checkout. After that the process is the same as selling a new card and you will be prompted for the gift card number after the payment is processed.
